Sadie Hennessy: Strange Hungers

It seems that I’m not the only artist working with unicorn-porn. These images are from the current show by Sadie Hennessey at WW Gallery in London.

Sadie Hennessy creates hybrid objects & images which are both comfortably familiar and deeply unsettling. She operates within a cultural framework of ‘Englishness’ and explores the idea of nostalgia, and more pertinently, the construct of ‘faux nostalgia’ i.e. the yearning for a time that never actually existed.

It seems that there is an abundance of similarities between Hennessey’s practice and my own so I shall be undertaking a last minute adventure to London in this next week or two to have a look at this work. I’ll report back after that but in the meantime you can read more about the exhibition on the WW Gallery website: www.wilsonwilliamsgallery.com.
